OKLAHOMA...................................

I love visiting friends!!! It's even better when I get to cross state lines to visit them. I'm so happy I went to Oklahoma and visited friends and even made a few more. I'm so glad I got to see John & Carla and their little rug rats. And the adventure in their town of Soper will be one I can't forget and can't wait to do again. Every trip we made from dinner and the show to the VFW hall and rounding out the night and the bar on Saturday was a HOOT!!! Church in a barn was a new experience for me (i enjoyed it) and lunch afterwards was entertaining as always. It's so nice to meet new people and feel right at home with them.

I love the random adventures and memories that were made.

Fort Worth Stock Show

Violet the Heifer Soaking in the sunshine!

Only at FWSSR would there still be a live band at the rodeo.

Rodeo Clown meets Moto Cross!!
Calf Scramble!

It's stock show season in Texas, which means its the next best thing to football in the state. First time ever to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and I'm already hooked and love it!!! I went for the first time with Chrissy and we hung out in the cattle barns all day. I forgot how much I love being in those barns. I also walked over and got to see Planet Ag, AG magic and the Southwest Dairy Milking display and of course I loved it!! It was also nice to take one our 4-H kids to see all of it and see it through her eyes. I love seeing people learning about Agriculture and have fun doing it. Got to go back again 2 days later and see more than just the cattle barns. I got to see the hog, sheep, poultry , horse and shopping areas. On top of it all I got to go to my first Texas rodeo!! It was a great day with people I heart!!! I have never seen Chuck Wagon races before but I do believe I have found my new favorite sport. I have never been so exciting to see a team of horses racing it was great!!! But the most interesting thing was the rodeo still has a live band that plays music while the boys are riding and for the shows. It was a great way to stick to tradition at the 116th FWSSR!!!
My first weekend experience at FWSSR was a success and I can't wait to go back while its still running until Feb. 4th. I look forward to many more trips to the stock show in the future!!!

Sewing Workshops!!

With work I have been using my sewing skills and getting to make fun things with the kids below is the pictures of the apron I made for my little lambchop and her wearing it!  I loved making it and its super easy!! I had to share with everyone and if you don't have a sewing machine I'm sure mom or grandma does!
KIDS APRON & INSTRUCTIONS
  •  One or two pieces (two if you want to line the back of apron) of fabric at least 18" by 18". (for larger children use at least a yard of fabric)
  • a little more than 4 feet of coordinating ribbon any width would work.
  • EMAIL ME FOR PATTERN
Simple steps:

1. Print the two pages of the pattern, use the dotted line to tape them together, and cut along the solid black lines so that you have a pattern that looks like half of an apron. ( to make larger apron allow for room between top and bottom half of aprons)

2. Fold your front fabric the long way so that you have a rectangle

3. Place the long side of the pattern on the fold of the fabric and cut ½ -1 inch larger than the pattern all the way around.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the back fabric if necessary

5. Use an iron to turn down ½- 1  inch of the front fabric all the way around

***6. On the back fabric, turn down 1/4-1/2 inch on two adjoining sides (such as the bottom and left sides) IF DOING A BACK LINING

7. Place the front fabric, good side down, on your ironing board

***8. Line up the two ironed sides of the back fabric with the corresponding sides of the front fabric IF DOING A BACK LINING

9. Work your way around the back piece, ironing each side under. Use the front piece as a guide so that you end up making the two pieces equally sized

***10. Pin the two pieces together, seams facing in IF DOING A BACK LINING

11. Add approximately 16 inches of ribbon at each hip; pin in place

12. Use 19 inches of ribbon to make a U at the top; pin in place & sew (I added buttons to hide the stitching and make it decorative

13. Stitch around the perimeter of the apron, 1/4 inch from the edge

14. Use a candle to lightly melt the ends of the apron so it won't fray.
